We have been exclusively retained by an established and expanding elderly care provider to recruit an ambitious Registered Home Manager for a recently commissioned 66-bed care home in Chesterfield.
Commissioned in 2025, the home is purpose-built and currently operates across two floors, supporting approximately 24 residents. The successful candidate will take ownership of the next stage of the home’s development, with a significant focus on increasing occupancy, opening additional capacity and growing the workforce.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Home Manager to make a substantial impact within a new service, shaping its team, culture and reputation while maintaining the strong standards already established.
The home primarily supports privately funded residents, although local-authority-funded placements may be considered where an appropriate fee top-up is available.

The provider is an established and growing operator with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, resident-centred care.
Its services are supported by comprehensive staffing structures, experienced operational leadership and an established senior management team. Home Managers are given the resources and autonomy required to develop their services and deliver sustainable growth.
The provider is now seeking a warm, commercially aware and experienced leader who can continue the home’s commissioning journey while building a successful and highly regarded service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operationally lead a recently commissioned 66-bed elderly care home.
- Develop and execute a clear strategy to increase occupancy from its current level.
- Support the phased opening and development of the remaining areas of the home.
- Recruit, mentor and develop a high-performing staff team as resident numbers increase.
- Work closely with the Deputy Manager, Care Manager and wider senior team.
- Maintain strong governance, compliance and quality standards throughout the home’s growth.
- Ensure care plans and resident documentation remain accurate, personalised and of a consistently high standard.
- Build positive relationships with residents, relatives, local professionals and community stakeholders.
- Develop the home’s reputation within the local private-pay market.
- Deliver sustainable commercial and financial performance.
- Create an engaging, supportive and resident-first culture.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing warm and nurturing leadership.
Who are we looking for?
- Proven track record as a successful Registered Home Manager within elderly care.
- Previous experience commissioning a new care home or leading a recently opened service.
- Demonstrable success increasing occupancy within a private-pay care environment.
- Evidence of recruiting and developing teams during a period of operational growth.
- Strong understanding of CQC regulations, governance and quality assurance.
- Commercially astute, with the ability to balance care quality with financial performance.
- Experienced in marketing a care home and developing relationships within the local community.
- Warm, approachable and emotionally intelligent leadership style.
- Able to work effectively with an experienced and self-sufficient management team.
- Confident and decisive, with the ability to challenge appropriately and maintain accountability.
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management, or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong communication, organisational and relationship-management skills.
