This position as Cardiac Physiologist – Echocardiography is a key clinical role within the new Welbeck Oxford Hospital. Working exclusively within the outpatient setting, this role offers the opportunity to operationally lead and develop the Cardiac Echocardiography service in a modern, consultant-led environment with no theatre commitments.
This is an echo-heavy role with a strong emphasis on advanced non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. As the dedicated Cardiac Physiologist on site, you will work autonomously whilst building strong relationships with Consultants, nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a seamless and exceptional patient experience. You will also support trainee physiologists and contribute to maintaining a culture of learning, safety and continuous improvement.
- Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE)
- Stress Echocardiography
- Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography
- Bubble studies and contrast echocardiography
- Exercise Treadmill Testing (ETT)
- Ambulatory ECG analysis
- Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring analysis
Working closely with Consultant Cardiologists, you will contribute to accurate diagnosis and support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
- Operationally lead the Cardiac Echocardiography service
- Support the day-to-day running of outpatient cardiac clinics
- Participate in audit, governance and quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies
Education and Training
- Support trainee and student physiologists
- Promote in-house learning and professional development
Governance and Quality
- Participate in audit and quality assurance activities
- Report incidents, complaints and near misses appropriately
Requirements
- Degree in Clinical Physiology or Healthcare Science or equivalent
- British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation
- Experience undertaking stress echocardiography, dobutamine stress echo, contrast studies and bubble studies
- Experience with exercise treadmill testing
- Experience analysing ambulatory ECG and blood pressure recordings
- Experience delivering in-house training programmes
- Experience supervising trainee physiologists
- Experience supporting service development and quality improvement initiatives
