At present, we are searching for an experienced and motivated Senior Outpatient Nurse to join the team and support the operational and clinical management of the outpatient department. As the Senior Outpatient Nurse, you will act as deputy to the Outpatient Manager while leading a designated specialty area within the department, such as Dermatology, Gynaecology, Neurology or another developing service.

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of clinics, mentoring colleagues, developing processes and helping to establish a high-performing outpatient service. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, embraces change and is motivated by the opportunity to help build something new.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Outpatient Manager during periods of absence.
  • Lead and develop a designated specialty area within the outpatient department.
  • Support the day-to-day running of outpatient clinics, ensuring efficient patient flow and excellent patient experience.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care across a range of outpatient services.
  • Support consultants during clinics, examinations and procedures as required.
  • Assist with training, induction and development of nursing colleagues.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Band 5 Nurses and specialist nursing colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of new pathways, processes and clinical standards.
  • Support the introduction and safe use of new clinical equipment.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety and teamwork.
  • Act as a role model for professional practice and uphold NMC standards at all times.

About You

We are keen to hear from motivated nurses who are looking to take the next step in their career. Previous senior-level experience is beneficial but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate strong leadership potential, excellent outpatient experience and the right attitude.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Previous experience working within an outpatient environment
  • Multi-specialty outpatient experience is essential
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions
  • Experience supporting or managing staff, including appraisals and development
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach within a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Passion for delivering high-quality patient care and supporting service development
  • Phlebotomy, Cannulation, Venepuncture and Wound Care skills are desirable

Candidates currently working at Band 5 level with significant senior-level responsibilities are encouraged to apply.
