Are you an RVN who thrives in nurse consultations and enjoys building lasting relationships with clients and their pets? This proudly independent veterinary group is seeking a consult-focused Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its close-knit team. Built around a philosophy of continuity of care, this is an opportunity to become part of a practice where patient welfare comes first, nurses are encouraged to use their skills to their full potential, and every team member is genuinely valued.

The team pride themselves on delivering a personal, relationship-led service, ensuring pets and owners are able to build trust with familiar faces throughout their journey. This is an opportunity to join a growing independent practice where clinical autonomy is respected, ideas are welcomed, and work-life balance is actively encouraged.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding first-opinion nursing position, with a strong emphasis on nurse consultations and client care. While surgical nursing remains an important aspect of the role, the practice is particularly keen to hear from nurses who enjoy consulting and building long-term relationships with owners.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Running nurse consultations and clinics
  • Supporting clients with weight management and preventative healthcare
  • Repeat vaccinations and bandage changes
  • Assisting Veterinary Surgeons in theatre and consultations
  • Anaesthetic monitoring and inpatient care
  • Patient admissions and discharges
  • Blood sampling and patient cannulation
  • Running samples in the in-house laboratory
  • Maintaining and managing your own workspace
  • Supporting work experience students
  • Future clinical coaching opportunities for Student Veterinary Nurses

The practice is looking for someone who enjoys variety and values being part of a collaborative team environment, recognising that everyone contributes to providing exceptional patient care. Professional development is actively encouraged, with certificates and further training fully supported.

The Practice

Established almost 30 years ago, this award-winning independent veterinary group has grown steadily while remaining true to the values it was founded upon. Operating across three modern sites, the practice has built its reputation on providing continuity of care and developing long-term relationships with clients and their pets. Their philosophy centres around ensuring owners can see familiar veterinary and nursing teams wherever possible, delivering a truly personal experience.

Appointments are deliberately structured to allow time for meaningful conversations and thorough patient care, creating a calm and supportive environment for both pets and owners.

Facilities across the group include:

  • Digital radiography
  • Dental radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Multiparameter monitoring equipment
  • In-house IDEXX laboratory equipment
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Microscopy and Sedivue urinalysis
  • Dedicated surgical facilities

A wide variety of cases are managed in-house, supported by experienced colleagues and a culture that prioritises quality of care over financial targets.

The Team & Culture

One of the practice's greatest strengths is its people. Staff retention is exceptional, with several team members having been with the practice for over a decade and some approaching 30 years of service. Led by an experienced owner who places great importance on staff wellbeing and creating a positive workplace, the culture is built around kindness, collaboration and mutual support. Team members are encouraged to pursue their interests, contribute ideas and enjoy genuine work-life balance.

You will primarily be based within one of the group's boutique village practices, working alongside a small and highly supportive team where relationships matter and everyone works together to provide the very best care. This is not a KPI-driven environment or a practice built around targets. Instead, the focus is on doing what’s right for the patient, supporting colleagues and delivering outstanding client care.
