Responsibilities
- Responsible for defining and assuring architectural standards, target-state architectures and reference patterns for data and AI workloads.
- Own and evolve the enterprise data modelling standard based on Data Vault 2.0, ensuring scalable, consistent and auditable design across the data platform.
- Define architectural patterns that enable AI use cases at scale — including training data lineage, feature engineering, retrieval architectures and inference data flows — ensuring traceability from source data through to model output.
- Set architectural standards for metadata, lineage, data contracts and interoperability that support both human and AI consumption of data.
- Partner with AI Governance, Data Platform, Model Risk, Data Risk, Privacy and Security functions to ensure architectural decisions meet regulatory, ethical and risk requirements.
- Act as design authority for data and AI-impacting design decisions; provide architectural review and assurance for major change initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and uplift data architecture capability across the wider data and engineering community.
Qualifications
- Deep expertise in modern data architecture: lakehouse, streaming, data mesh, and dimensional/ensemble modelling.
- Hands‑on experience designing and implementing Data Vault 2.0 at enterprise scale.
- Strong grasp of AI/ML data architecture: feature stores, vector stores, retrieval‑augmented patterns and data flows for agentic systems.
- Knowledge of how architecture supports regulatory and audit obligations in financial services (FCA, ICO, UK GDPR, NIST AI RMF, EU AI Act).
- Collaborative leadership style; drives direction through influence in matrixed environments.
- Critical thinker; translates business strategy into pragmatic architecture and operates effectively as a design authority.
