About The Role

Great UX makes things simpler, clearer and easier to use. It removes friction, improves journeys and helps turn great ideas into better digital experiences. This is a pure UX role, focused on research, interaction design and usability — not visual or brand‑led UI design. At Compare My Move, UX has a real impact. It shapes how customers move through our digital journeys, how they engage with our products and how effectively the business delivers online. We’re looking for an experienced UX Designer who does the research, combines it with data and business needs, and turns insight into practical, user‑centred design that works. You’ll work closely with designers, developers and stakeholders, apply strong accessibility and usability standards, and help raise the standard of UX across the business.

Location & Hours

  • Location: Cardiff (in person)
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, flexitime (no core hours)

Benefits: £7,000+ including two weeks off at Christmas (in addition to annual leave), private healthcare, free city‑centre parking and more. Please note: Compare My Move is not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

What You'll Do

  • Lead UX across key digital journeys and high‑impact projects.
  • Take ownership of UX work end‑to‑end, from discovery and research through to wireframing, prototyping, testing and iteration.
  • Use insights from research you conduct, alongside stakeholder input and performance data, to identify problems and shape better solutions.
  • Create user flows, information architecture and experience frameworks that improve usability and journey effectiveness.
  • Build wireframes, prototypes and interactive mock‑ups in Figma to communicate ideas clearly and support delivery.
  • Apply strong accessibility, inclusion and usability standards across all work.
  • Work closely with developers and stakeholders to align on solutions and ensure designs are delivered effectively.
  • Help raise the standard of UX thinking and design consistency across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in UX or interaction design within a commercial environment.
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates clear thinking, sound judgement and ownership of meaningful UX work.
  • Strong experience using Figma and relevant UX tools across the full UX lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery.
  • A strong understanding of UX principles, responsive design, usability and accessibility best practice.
  • Experience planning and conducting research and testing and using performance data to improve journeys and outcomes.
  • Confidence in explaining design thinking and recommendations to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working closely with developers and cross‑functional teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • A thoughtful, practical and commercially aware approach to UX design.

What’s In It For You

  • £40,000 to £50,000, with an annual pay review and benefits worth £7,000+.
  • Two paid weeks off at Christmas in addition to annual leave.
  • Flexitime between 6am and 8pm with no core hours.
  • Bupa medical and dental cover after probation.
  • Free city‑centre parking worth around £1,850.
  • Enhanced pension contributions.
  • Additional Birthday and work anniversary leave.
  • Learning and development opportunities.
