The Dailies Producer is responsible for managing and coordinating location and facility dailies shows for both Episodic and Features, supervising schedules to ensure the dailies process is technically accurate and that all staff are trained uniformly and cross-functionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned shows and oversee the dailies workflow from start to finish.
- Run Pre-Production Calls, gather specs, and create show spec sheets and workflow documents that should be distributed to the entire Dailies team.
- Orchestrate camera test workflows and session scheduling with DI Producers and Finishing Colorists local and remote.
- Review bids and set up jobs in Mediapulse.
- Review and approve billing on shows ensuring that all additional charges or no charges are properly notated.
- Schedule all resources and create work orders in Mediapulse.
- Reference provided Operational guides, workflow documents and best practice documentation to raise work requests via third party project management tools such as SLACK, JIRA, Click Up etc.
- Orchestrate the start of the job by communicating job specs to Dailies Colorists, Dailies technicians, Data IO and Deliverables to ensure that all are aware of the show requirements, workflow and expectations.
- Schedule staff and adjust based on the call sheet. Track time off and ensure that we have coverage. Discuss coverage with Director of Dailies and escalate any issues.
- Track status of LTO turn-around and ensure that clients are kept up to date. If LTOs are not completed and verified within 36 hours, elevate to Director, Dailies.
- Schedule staff on weekends and fill in if necessary to achieve dailies turn-round requirements. OT must be pre-approved by the Director of Dailies.
- Track important spec changes, communicate all changes to the staff as needed and update spec documents. Ensure that protocols are followed.
- Track all issues that arise during dailies in the spec internal notes and pass this information along to DI. Remain in close contact with DI management to advise them of special cases throughout dailies.
- Train all Dailies Operators in all functions of the department.
- Must be willing to travel and support on-location setups for television and feature productions.
- Must be available outside of standard working hours to address questions and resolve issues as needed.
- Must be trained in the use of all company software applications and tools, including Synapse, Metatrack, D365 Finance etc. Ensure that all operators are fully up-to-date and trained in all applications.
- Ensure that a workflow/image science document is being managed and maintained by the workflow specialist assigned to shows.
- Track mistakes/issues introduced by colorists/technicians and ensure that employees are receiving feedback and guidance, or further training as needed. Escalate all issues to Director, Dailies for awareness.
- Report security breaches to Director, Dailies and VP Global Dailies immediately.
- Maintain a strong understanding of job status and be capable of answering questions as they relate to all jobs in progress.
- Use Teams Channel to ensure that all show information is being communicated broadly to the team.
- Identify potential issues and elevate matters to management in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to all client requests, coordinating with internal staff.
- Coordinate logistics including shipping and travel for on location jobs.
- Coordinate with other location producers and staff when multiple locations are involved in the Dailies workflow.
- Schedule vault, data io, engineering theaters and other resources as needed for shows.
- Audit and ensure that tracking sheets are being updated. Tracking sheets should include show/episode shoot date, shoot day 001 ex. and rounded hours of media received per camera type.
- Ensure billing is never more than 24 hours behind dailies and that clients are being invoiced.
- Ensure that LTO shipments are being made according to client directives during production and organize the shipment of the backup LTO set after shows wrap.
- Escalate any issues that occur on shows to Director, Dailies.
- Be mindful that you are closing communication loops both internally and externally with clients.
- Other duties as necessary.
Personal Requirements & Skills:
- Some color science knowledge.
- Proficient in Colorfront OSD & EXD software, Resolve, and Avid.
- Excellent work ethic and positive attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional client, management, and in-house production staff communication and experience a must.
- Desire to learn and contribute to the department.
- Ability to work independently and remain calm in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills a MUST.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications.
- Proficiency with all internal company applications including 3rd party and proprietary.
- Some travel may be required.
Shift: Primarily a daytime schedule with occasional night shifts and weekend work as needed to support production, both on-site and in the field, and to ensure timely delivery. Flexibility is essential to accommodate departmental demands. Must be willing to work on location and in the office (3 times a week). Some travel is required.
