Clarke Welding Services Limited is a long established welding, pipefitting and fabrication company that supplies coded welders, fabrications, maintenance support and new installation projects to many of the largest companies in the area.

We look to recruit level 3 Metal Fabricator/Welding apprentices who are keen to be involved with varied and sometimes challenging projects.

This would suit someone adept at problem solving and motivated to learn as we undertake a wide variety of work including welding, pipefitting, plating and general fabrication which can also involve working on site, in confined spaces and at height.

This would be based at our workshop at Woolpit (IP30 9UP) and on our clients’ sites. Applicants would be expected to make their own arrangements for transport to college which is at Colchester Institute for one day a week.

As our ideal Welding Apprentice, you will require:

  • Motivation and drive to succeed
  • Great communication skills with the ability to communicate with peers and management
  • You will need to be open minded and willing to develop your knowledge and skills to support your future development
  • Have good numerical, logical, organisational and analytical skills

Personal Qualities

  • You will have a good level of dexterity hand skills and hand to eye co-ordination
  • Have an interest in mechanical engineering
  • Take pride in the presentation of your work
  • Have a logical approach to problem solving
  • You need to be able to learn through instruction and experience
  • Be safety conscious and well presented

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Grade 4 (Pass) English, Science and Maths

Schedule

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate

  • Bury St Edmunds, IP30 9UP: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Own transport to Colchester Institute one day a week from September and during term time
