Are you a creative 3D Environment Artist passionate about crafting imaginative and immersive worlds? We’re looking for someone to join us and help shape the environments of our upcoming co-op ARPG for the Nintendo Switch. This project is inspired by the aesthetic of retro-futuristic animation and science-fantasy art from the late 20th century, delivering nostalgic charm paired with modern gameplay. Your Responsibilities
- Design and create visually stunning environments for a stylised ARPG, including organic and hard-surface assets.
- Build modular architecture kits and props to ensure efficient and cohesive world-building.
- Optimise assets for Nintendo Switch, meeting performance requirements for poly counts, draw calls, and texture memory.
- Collaborate closely with design and character teams to seamlessly integrate environments with gameplay.
- Oversee outsourced assets, providing feedback and handling intake/integration as needed.
- Conceptualise and execute unique biomes, exterior spaces, and areas that reflect the game’s vibrant aesthetic.
- Contribute to performance optimisation efforts, ensuring smooth and engaging gameplay.
Your Profile
- 5+ years of experience in game art, with at least 3+ years focused on environment creation.
- Expertise in stylised, non-photorealistic environments, with a strong understanding of retro-inspired aesthetics.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools: Maya/Blender, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer.
- Experience with Unreal Engine, particularly in level performance and optimisation.
- Ability to create PBR textures that maintain a retro-futuristic look and feel.
- Understanding of gamepad controls and camera tuning for console games.
- Solid knowledge of level design best practices, including modular construction and environmental storytelling.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
- Experience working on shipped console titles, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
Bonus Skills
- Familiarity with lighting setups in Unreal Engine to enhance mood and atmosphere.
