Companion Group is working on a stylised rogue-like title for a first-party platform and PC. We’re looking for a 2D Concept Artist with a sharp eye for visual storytelling, a strong grasp of stylisation, and a deep understanding of how concept art supports real-time production. You’ll help define the world’s tone through iconic characters, environments, and mood pieces. Reporting to the Art Director, the ideal candidate is a visual designer and storyteller who can deliver best in class artwork to pre-visualise sets, develop characters, environments and support all visual development areas. You’ll also assist the Art Director by providing feedback to the team when required.

Your Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality concepts for environments, characters, and props with a strong sense of style, mood, and storytelling.
  • Work closely with Art Directors, Environment Artists, and Designers to establish the look and feel of the game world.
  • Translate narrative and gameplay goals into visually compelling concepts that enhance world-building.
  • Iterate quickly on ideas, from loose sketches to refined 2D blockouts or paint overs.
  • Help maintain visual consistency across different aspects of the game.
  • Support the art pipeline with references, visual targets, and style guides.
  • Contribute ideas to shape the game’s art direction and identity.

Your Profile

  • A professional with 2+ years of experience as a concept artist or a portfolio with shipped AA/AAA titles.
  • Proven ability to create environment art in a stylised art style.
  • An artist who understands the needs of interactive media, aware of how concept work feeds into 2D pipelines.
  • Expertise in tools such as Photoshop or similar.
  • Strong command of colour theory, lighting, shape design, and composition.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and the autonomy to own creative challenges.
  • Experience working on rogue-like, action, or stylised titles.
  • A gamer at heart with a solid grasp of current trends and player expectations in the video game industry.
  • Fluent in English at a business level, comfortable in a remote-first work environment.
