Successful candidates will be offered the minimum of the pay scale and in some circumstances salary negotiations will be dependent on the demonstration of skills and experience. All our roles come with an excellent benefits’ package, including the generous Civil Service Pension Scheme. Further salary increases depend entirely upon the outcome of our annual pay negotiation with central government. If you are a current Civil Servant transferring to us, your salary will be discussed in line with our pay policies.

This is a great opportunity to join our Knowledge Quality and Learning Team. The team is evolving and redefining itself to become the custodians of the essential ‘know how’ of our operational delivery work.

We’re capturing that knowledge into policies and procedures and making it available via our dedicated Knowledge Hub.

Our team is a part of our Customer Delivery Support (CDS) team, within the Customer Delivery Directorate (CDD). The primary function of CDS is to support and enable CDD to provide excellent operational delivery through the provision of guidance, training, and management information.

Job description
Our Operational Knowledge Managers will be:

• Collaborating with operational and policy colleagues to design and document our examination policies and operational procedures for CDD. In addition to maintaining and publishing those documents on our Knowledge Hub.

• Providing advice on examination policy and operational process to our colleagues. The nature and subject of the queries can be diverse and complex, requiring well thought out problem solving.

• Helping to resolve emerging issues with our operational policies and procedures, by working with colleagues from operational and policy teams. Including, being responsible for ensuring guidance is robust and supports good decision making.

• Contributing to the successful implementation of new legislation and changes to our systems, by working with project teams to deliver new polices and processes.

We’re looking for Operational Knowledge Managers who:

• Can write and produce professional and credible documents suitable for internal use.

• Are confident communicators – when speaking and in writing – to a wide range of people.

• Have good attention to detail – with the ability to think through details and impacts with a critical eye to focus on what really matters.

• Can analyse problems and provide solutions, in a constructive and professional manner.

• Can work well independently and as part of a team – taking initiative as independent and organised workers who take responsibility to meet deadlines and are flexible to respond to emerging issues and changing priorities. Whilst also enjoying working as part of a team to achieve common goals.

• Have a positive and enthusiastic approach to providing a best-in-class service – enjoying learning new things and are proactive in their own professional development.

• Have good IT knowledge – including building and maintaining SharePoint sites and using Office 365 applications especially Word and Excel.

Where will you be working?

This role is a hybrid role that will be aligned to our Cardiff office, as this is where the team are based. Due to the nature of the role, you will need to attend our Cardiff office for up to 5 days per week depending on business need. As a hybrid worker, when business need allows, you may be able to work partly from the office and partly from your home.

All successful candidates should expect to need to attend our Cardiff office for up to 5 days per week during their initial training period.

What will the process look like?

We’ll sift all applications – this involves reading through them all, please bear with us as this can take some time. We may raise the score required at sift stage to progress to interview if we receive a high number of applications.
We’ll sift all applications we receive at the beginning of February and anticipate holding interviews virtually in mid-February with results shared with all candidates at the end of February.
