We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to head up an area of our Agile Delivery Profession! You will be setting up our new service iteration teams and supporting the adoption of Agile ways of working in our Data Directorate. You will set the strategy and future direction for Agile Delivery Management at Companies House within these areas.

Reporting to the Head of Product Delivery and line managing Senior Agile Delivery Managers, you will be required to support the profession to deliver across multiple teams at all stages of the development and product lifecycle, collaborating closely with other Heads of Profession to ensure plans are deliverable and teams have all the people they need to succeed. You will also be expected to represent the Digital and Technology directorate (DaT), collaborating with stakeholders and teams across Companies House. Therefore, we are looking for someone who is collaborative, displays strong leadership skills and is passionate about delivery.

As (one of two) Heads of Agile Delivery Management, you will:

  • Collaborate and work closely with the other Head of Agile Delivery Management for Infrastructure and Change to ensure consistency across both sides of the profession. This role will be Head of Agile Delivery Management for Services and Data.
  • Ensure the Agile Delivery Management profession working in service and data has the capacity, culture and skills required to deliver.
  • Build a clear career path for the profession and support people to succeed within it.
  • Act as an escalation point for delivery risks and blockers, providing support to the profession in mitigating and removing these.
  • Champion Agile delivery approaches and coach senior people across the organisation on best practices for delivery of products and services sustainably, with a focus on the needs of internal and external users.
  • Own the Digital and Technology delivery plan for Service and Data.
  • Work with Senior Responsible Owners of work, Service Owners, Service Managers and Project Managers to ensure this is accurate and up to date.
  • Facilitate conversations between stakeholders where conflicts arise due to changes in the plan and agree a way forward.
  • Ensure the plan is transparent and accessible to everyone in the organisation.
  • Work with other heads of profession to facilitate and promote effective cross-functional delivery.
  • Provide high level information on all digital deliveries in your area to stakeholders and governance boards as required, supporting decision making by understanding and clearly communicating the dependencies, risks and impacts of changes across all the work in Digital and Technology.
  • Be responsible for recruitment for the Companies House agile delivery management profession working within service and data teams.
  • Lead on the creation of the new service iteration scrum teams for the organisation ensuring there are good Agile ways of working embedded from the start.
  • Champion and maintain a diverse and inclusive environment.

This role sits in the Product Delivery area of Digital and Technology. You will be one of two Heads of Profession each responsible for half of the Senior Agile Delivery Managers and Agile Delivery Managers working in specific areas of the organisation. You will be joining us at a time of growth and will have a leadership role in setting the future direction. The Agile Delivery Management profession at Companies House has a strong community of practice who meet fortnightly to support each other and learn together. Agile Delivery Managers have a leadership role within our scrum teams and are pivotal in establishing and maintaining the culture and ways of working. In this role you will lead on embedding this into the new teams.
