We are looking for a data enthusiast who enjoys engaging with stakeholders to help them understand and realise the value of data.

This is an exciting time to join the Data Transformation team in Companies House as we are in a period of organisation wide transformation and you would be at the centre of our data transformation work. The use and interpretation of data is key to the success of this delivery and as such this role provides the post holder with a fantastic opportunity to help shape this.

As a Data Business Partner in this exciting area you will be a skilled data professional acting as the primary interface between the Data team and business areas. You will be an advocate for obtaining value from data, and partner with projects and business areas as representatives of the data governance processes at Companies House. You will help drive performance through analysing, interpreting and communicating data to support decision making.

You will:

  • Act as single point of contact for one or more business areas or projects, engaging with them to understand their priorities and how data and analysis can support them
  • Be the subject matter expert on Data Governance processes at Companies House and how they apply to the business areas or projects
  • Deliver presentations and training sessions on Data Governance at Companies House
  • Recognise the need for and engage with the relevant data professionals for collaboration on data initiatives
  • Facilitate workshops to understand and map out the impact of business or project work on our data
  • Facilitate, gather and articulate data requirements across the data lifecycle and all areas of data management
  • Contribute to the review, update and roll out of data governance documentation
  • Commission expert technical analysis from others in the team
  • Undertake analysis relating to own (or other) business area(s)
  • Working across the Data Team to develop a framework for managing demand for data services
  • Occasionally deputise for the Head of Data Strategy

Person specification

To be successful in this role:

  • You will enjoy working with non-technical colleagues to help them understand and apply data governance
  • You will be confident communicating and working with colleagues across and at all levels of the organisation.
  • You can understand and operationalise governance across the data life cycle.
  • You can review compliance or performance against the data life cycle, assess data quality, and log and triage data issues for resolution.
  • You can communicate why data is so important for Companies House and the UK government.
  • You can raise awareness and establish a foundational level of data literacy across the organisation through sharing knowledge, principles and practices.
  • You will have the ability to think analytically about data – identifying key trends and communicating findings to non-technical colleagues.
  • You will work collaboratively with cross government data communities to ensure Companies House’s strategic direction is aligned with the National Data Strategy.

Experience

You will have:

  • Experience of working with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Experience of delivering change improvement through projects

  • Experience of working within the Data Governance/Data Management profession
