We are seeking an experienced and confident HR manager with excellent ER knowledge and operational HR experience to join our team. This is a full-time position, 5 days per week, based on-site in our office located in Manchester with occasional travel to other sites.

The HR Manager will lead our HR function overseeing day to day operations including recruitment and vetting, management of ER cases, absence management and overall HR compliance while providing practical, consistent and professional HR advice and guidance to managers across a full breadth of HR related topics. This position will require someone with strong employment law and TUPE knowledge.

Role responsibilities
  • Provide day to day management of small HR team.
  • Oversee recruitment and vetting for the business ensuring all timescales maintained and vetting compliance targets achieved in line with Security Industry Authority requirements and British Standards for screening and vetting.
  • Provide pragmatic advice, coaching and case management support to line managers on a broad range of employee relations matters (e.g., disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, probation, restructure, TUPE, compliance investigations).
  • Support early dispute resolution, liaising with external advisors as required.
  • Management of ER cases end to end in line with company processes and employment law best practice to ensure timely and fair outcomes.
  • Supporting and coordinating all employee relations issues including attending investigations and hearings as required delivering balance, pragmatic and compliant advice to support effective decision making.
  • Co-ordinate and lead on HR projects including engagement survey policy reviews, reward and recognition and wellbeing.
  • Review and updating of HR policies ensuring alignment with required legislation and best practice.
  • Lead on delivery of HR and people elements for annual compliance audits.
  • Develop and deliver HR-related training sessions for managers and team leaders.
  • Management of absence and attendance including long term sickness.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with managers and stakeholders across all businesses.
  • Compile HR data, metrics and reports for leadership review the business analysing trends and identifying improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline, and/or CIPD qualification level 5 or above.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team.
  • A minimum of 5 years of HR generalist experience.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures and UK employment law.
  • Proficient in using HR /ATS/Scheduling systems.
  • Experience managing employee relations casework.
  • Proven experience in developing and updating HR policies, procedures and process flow.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage workload effectively in line with changing priorities.
  • Prior experience working in a busy fast paced environment with multiple stakeholders, and a requirement to be visible within the business.
  • Full Driving licence.
