The Home Learning Coordinator is responsible for promoting effective early learning at home through direct support to families, building strong relationships with parents/carers, and ensuring links with relevant specialist services (e. g., speech and language therapy, health visitors, and Nursery / School educators).
The role supports the development of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by delivering practical, evidence-based home learning activities and facilitating access to tailored services.
- Home-School / Home Setting Partnership
- Establish positive, trusting relationships with families/caregivers to support children’s early learning and development.
- Conduct home visits to engage parents in their child’s learning and well-being.
- Offer practical advice, information, and resources to promote learning activities at home that are aligned with the EYFS curriculum.
- Model effective early learning practices to parents/carers (e. g., effective routines, language-rich play, sensory activities and speech and language development).
- Encourage parental confidence and ability to support individual children’s learning and development.
- Provide targeted support for families facing additional challenges (e. g., English as an Additional Language, barriers to communication, socio-emotional needs).
- Act as the key link between families and specialist professionals such as:
- Speech & Language Therapists
- Health Visitors / Paediatric Teams
- Early Years Advisory Teachers
- Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to coordinated planning for individual children.
- Help parents to understand and follow recommendations from specialist professionals.
- Assessment and Monitoring
- Use outcome-based assessment tools to help support children and families make positive change
- Use observation and assessments tools to tailor action plans.
- Track progress and produce reports for families and internal teams.
- Planning & Delivery
- Develop and deliver bespoke home action plans based on children’s individual needs.
- Plan and coordinate a summer transition programme for children and their families.
- Provide resources, tools, and activity guides to families to support early communication, language, social skills, and pre-school development.
- Professional Practice
- Maintain confidentiality and always uphold safeguarding standards.
- Be aware of and promote inclusion, equality, and respect for diversity in all interactions.
- Keep accurate documentation, attendance records, visit logs, and evidence of impact.
