The Human Health Project (HHP) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals increase their health knowledge through the sharing of health information. HHP collects, analyzes, and shares health information to empower and inform individuals to achieve better health outcomes. Our patient-centered approach enables patients and caregivers to choose treatments based on evidence-based clinical data as well as the cumulative knowledge of the HHP community. We envision a world where all people have the information, skills and opportunities to lead healthy lives.
Low health literacy is a critical barrier to equitable healthcare access and positive health outcomes. Individuals with limited health literacy are significantly more likely to delay or forgo necessary medical care, struggle to find appropriate providers, and have difficulty understanding health information. This impacts timely entry into the healthcare system, hinders effective self-management of chronic conditions, and contributes to higher healthcare costs and preventable hospitalizations.
As a Healthcare Access Manager Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding HHP's reach and ensuring our vital Healthcare Access Program empowers patients, especially those in underserved communities, with crucial health literacy skills. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:
- Strategic Partnership Development: Identify, research, and engage with potential new partner organizations, community clinics, support groups, and other non-profits that serve our target populations.
- Program Outreach & Integration: Promote and integrate our Online Video Courses and Peer-Led Patient Advocacy Workshops within partner organizations.
- Community Engagement: Foster community engagement around our Peer-to-Peer Online Events.
- Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong, lasting relationships with new and existing partners.
- Resource Coordination: Ensure our partners understand how to best utilize HHP's accessible, multilingual, and culturally relevant resources.
- Reporting & Analysis: Help track outreach activities and partner engagements.
- Advocacy Alignment: Work closely with other HHP volunteers and staff to ensure our healthcare access initiatives align with our broader advocacy goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Unwavering Commitment: Deeply committed to HHP's mission and believe passionately in equitable healthcare access and the power of health literacy.
- Exceptional Communicator: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly Organized & Strategic: Natural organizer, detail-oriented, and can think strategically about outreach and partnership opportunities.
- Proactive & Self-Motivated: Take initiative, identify needs, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Relationship Builder: Excel at fostering trust and collaboration with various community and organizational stakeholders.
- Tech Savvy: Comfortable with G Suite and potentially CRM software for tracking partnerships.
- Reliable & Accountable: Dependable and committed to fulfilling responsibilities and meeting deadlines.
Experience (a plus!): Prior experience in community outreach, partnership management, program coordination, healthcare administration, public health, or social work is a significant advantage.
Time Commitment: Your hours will be flexible and depend on the specific projects and your availability.
Why Volunteer with HHP as a Healthcare Access Manager?
- Lead the Change: Be a key driver in HHP's vital work to bridge the health literacy gap.
- High Impact: Directly expand access to crucial health information and advocacy skills.
- Skill Mastery: Gain invaluable experience in strategic partnership development, program management, community outreach, and health advocacy.
- Expand Your Network: Connect with a diverse group of passionate volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders.
