Neighbourhood Network is a small but dynamic charity, dedicated to helping residents build safer, healthier and more connected communities across Hull and the East Riding.
In 2023, the charity took over the management of the Alf Marshall Community Centre in the heart of Bransholme, transforming it from a closed, unused building into a vibrant community hub that now welcomes hundreds of visitors each week and operates across seven days a week.
We’re now looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Operations Assistant to join our team working predominantly at the community centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has excellent organisational skills and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service while supporting community activities that make a real difference to the people who come to the community centre.
As the first person many of our visitors meet, you’ll help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere from the moment people walk through the door.
Your day-to-day role will include greeting customers, answering the telephone, managing and amending room bookings via email, preparing spaces for activities and supporting our team to keep the centre clean and tidy and importantly, running smoothly.
You’ll also play an active part in community sessions such as our friendly Tuesday Social Club, helping ensure everyone feels included and supported.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a customer-focused environment, excellent communication skills, strong administrative abilities and have a flexible, ‘can-do’ approach to work.

- Salary £25,350 per annum, pro rata
- 22.5 to 30 hours per week (to include weekends and evenings dependant on need)
Fixed term for 18 months with the potential to extend.
Key responsibilities include
- Deliver a welcoming, professional and positive customer experience for all visitors.
- Manage room bookings and maximise the use of the community centre’s meeting and event spaces.
- Prepare rooms to meet customers’ requirements, ensuring they are clean, safe and ready for use.
- Support, encourage and work alongside the charity’s volunteers.
- Produce the charity’s regular newsletters and communications.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of community events and activities.
- Keep the charity’s websites up to date with accurate and engaging information.
- Create and schedule content for the charity’s social media platforms.
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations to support local residents.
- Represent Neighbourhood Network at community events.
- Support the delivery of the charity’s wider projects and services as required.
- Promote products available through the charity’s online shop and at events.
- Contribute to fundraising activities, campaigns and new ideas that help sustain and grow the charity.
