Free Water Safety Course, hosted by The Black Swimming Association
Posted: 14th February, 2025
The Black Swimming Association (BSA) is a non-profit organisation, set up to diversify the world of aquatics through education, advocacy, support and research.
Course Overview
This initiative is designed to equip participants with essential skills to stay safe in and around water, no matter their swimming ability.
Date: Fridays, 14th March – 11th April
Location: Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre, 10 Melon Rd, SE15 5QN
Time: 1-2pm
The courses will be mixed male/female, with all female teachers. We will be in the water with you to support you physically, mentally and emotionally whenever needed. It is open to anyone 18+ who lives, works or studies in the LB Lewisham and who has had a negative experience, has a fear or lacks confidence in water.
Eligibility
You will need to be able to attend at least 4 of the 5 sessions to be eligible – session 4 is the most important!
Please note this is not a learn to swim course; we aim to get you more confident, competent, and safer in water. You will try different swimming techniques (strokes), but we do not measure success by distance, and everyone is on their own personal journey of achievement.
Registration
Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
