Organisation: Community Mind Connect (CMC)

Location: Lancaster, UK (remote possible)

Commitment: Approximately 2 hours per week/month, flexible to suit the individual and organisational needs.

Role Summary: Community Mind Connect is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Marketing Assistant to join our team on a voluntary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to raising awareness of our vital work and engaging with the Lancaster community. Working closely with the Founder, responsible for marketing/communication, the Marketing Assistant will support the development and implementation of CMC’s marketing and communications activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management: Assist with the planning, creation, and scheduling of engaging content for CMC’s social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
  • Content Creation: Support the creation of marketing materials, including website content, blog posts, newsletters, flyers, and promotional graphics (using provided templates or basic design tools).
  • Website Updates: Assist with updates to the CMC website content.
  • Email Marketing: Support the creation and distribution of email newsletters and marketing campaigns.
  • Event Promotion: Assist with the promotion of CMC events and workshops through online and offline channels.
  • Market Research: Assist with basic market research to understand audience needs and preferences.
  • Brand Awareness: Help to maintain and promote CMC’s brand identity.
  • Photography and Videography: Assist with capturing photos and short videos at CMC events and activities (if applicable and with appropriate permissions).
  • Media Liaison: Assist with building relationships with local media outlets (if required).
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track the performance of marketing activities and provide basic reports.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Experience using social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva).
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
  • Photography or videography skills.
  • Understanding of marketing principles.
  • Experience in the charity/non-profit sector.
  • Familiarity with the Lancaster community.

Person Specification:

  • Enthusiastic about marketing and communications.
  • Creative and has an eye for visual content.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using social media platforms.
  • Has basic IT skills, including email and word processing.
  • Has a genuine interest in the work of Community Mind Connect and a desire to promote our mission.
