Contract: Fixed-term, 12 months (with possible extension for two more years)
This role plays a central part in ensuring volunteers feel supported, confident and equipped to deliver high-quality peer support. The successful candidate will directly influence volunteer engagement, service consistency and the overall effectiveness of our peer-support model.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the induction, onboarding and ongoing development of volunteers
- Deliver training and conduct regular 1:1s with volunteers
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, monitoring information and hours
- Ensure sufficient volunteer cover across services, managing last-minute changes when needed
- Support group facilitators to plan and deliver topics within peer support groups
- Gather volunteer feedback and case studies for reports and communications
- Build relationships with external organisations and represent Battle Scars at events
- Provide reception cover and assist with day-to-day hub operations
Essential Requirements
- Lived or living experience of self-harm
- Experience supporting volunteers, including supervision or informal management
- Experience working with adults at risk
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload
- Good communication skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to maintain accurate records and monitoring information
- Compassionate, person-centred and able to work in a charged or potentially triggering environment
- Flexible and able to respond to last-minute changes
- DBS required (Battle Scars cover cost)
