This is a varied in-house role where no two days will be quite the same. You’ll handle property acquisitions and disposals, negotiate leases and tenancy arrangements, advise on housing law and property risk, manage contested matters and support significant organisational projects.
Most importantly, you’ll be using your expertise in an organisation dedicated to making a positive difference to people’s lives.
This is a full time permanent role with attendance at our head office required at least once a week so our ideal candidate will be based within an hours commute of our head office in Widnes.
What is The Deal for you?

- Benefits: Retail discounts, holiday discounts, cycle to work scheme and travel discounts through our benefits app.
- Best Lives Possible: You'll be working for an award winning charity who is passionate about ensuring our colleagues and the people we support lead the best lives bolder
- Development: We'll work with you to develop your career or to learn and experience new things. We're passionate about developing our people!
- Dare to Learn: Access to our amazing online training platform where you can upskill taking a variety of courses and qualifications.
- Support: From our Employee Assistance Programme (available 24/7), financial support options, and wellbeing fund you'll have the support available to lead an easier (financial) life.
Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
Reporting to our Legal Director & Company Secretary, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Property, Facilities, Business Development and Operations, alongside our Commercial Solicitors and wider Legal team.
You’ll manage your own substantial caseload with a high level of autonomy, balancing transactional property work with housing advice and contentious matters.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing residential property acquisitions and disposals, from due diligence through to completion
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, licences, tenancy agreements and asset management arrangements
- Handling HM Land Registry applications, SDLT returns and other transactional requirements
- Preparing papers and legal advice supporting property disposals and trustee decision-making
- Advising on housing law, repairs, fitness, landlord and tenant obligations
- Managing contested property and housing matters from pre-action through to settlement or hearing
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, disclosure, applications, settlement agreements and instructions to experts and counsel
- Supporting mergers and acquisitions through property due diligence, searches and advice
- Providing practical, commercially aware advice on legal risk and appropriate resolution strategies
- Monitoring developments in property and housing law and turning them into clear, practical guidance for colleagues
- Identifying recurring risks and helping improve policies, processes, record keeping and controls
- Instructing and managing external legal advisers where specialist support is needed
About you:
You’ll be a qualified solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate, bringing at least three years’ post-qualification experience within relevant areas of property and housing law.
We’re particularly interested in experience across commercial and residential property, leases, housing conditions, residential landlord and tenant matters and/or property litigation.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong knowledge of residential repairs and fitness legislation
- Experience of the Civil Procedure Rules and the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims
- Demonstrable experience independently managing contested property or housing litigation
- Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analysis skills
- The confidence to advise and constructively challenge stakeholders at different levels
- The ability to manage a busy caseload and competing priorities independently
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach that balances legal risk with operational realities
- The ability to translate complex legal issues into straightforward, practical advice
Experience gained within a registered provider, local authority or other public-sector landlord would be particularly valuable, although it isn’t essential.
Experience securing injunctions or other remedies for access to residential properties, instructing external advisers, delivering training or developing legal precedents and guidance would also be advantageous.
Why Community Integrated Care?
This is an opportunity to take your property and housing expertise beyond the traditional legal environment.
You’ll work alongside colleagues from across the organisation, influence important decisions and help us manage our property portfolio responsibly and effectively. You’ll have the autonomy to own your caseload while still having the benefit of an established wider Legal team when collaboration or specialist input is needed.
And because we understand that talented people need flexibility, the role comes with hybrid working arrangements, the option to work your full-time hours compressed across four days, and we’ll also consider part-time applications from 30 hours per week.
Ready for your next legal challenge?
Bring your expertise to Community Integrated Care and help us manage legal risk, strengthen the way we work and support safe, sustainable accommodation for the people we support.
