Community Integrated Care is seeking a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) Specialist Practitioner in the South Scotland area, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Lothians, Dumfries and Galloway, and the Scottish Borders. The PBS Specialist Practitioner will work with and support the Strategic PBS Lead to coordinate a whole-organisational approach, quantify impact (reduced behaviours and improved quality of life), and develop a Positive Behaviour Culture. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) with a Monday–Friday pattern (a 4-day week can be discussed). A valid driver’s licence and access to a car are required as the role covers the South of Scotland and may involve travel elsewhere in Scotland.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Strategic PBS Lead in coordinating an organisation-wide PBS strategy and culture.
  • Quantify impact in terms of reduced behaviours and improved quality of life.
  • Travel as required to cover the South of Scotland and other parts of Scotland.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies; lead or contribute to de-briefs as appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Level 5 PBS Qualification is essential; willingness to work to Level 6/7 or equivalent; ABA qualification with a minimum of one year working PBS experience.
  • Extensive experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism who display behaviours of concern.
  • Experience carrying out Behaviour assessments within a Positive Behaviour Support framework.
  • Experience reducing the use of restrictive practices/interventions.
  • Experience delivering training, workshops and/or teaching adult learners.
  • Experience leading individual or team de-briefs.
  • Knowledge of care standards and social care legislation; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and potentially SharePoint.

Desirable Approaches and Skills

The organisation’s current approach uses the least restrictive practices to support individuals through stressful episodes and trains relevant colleagues in MAPA (Managing Actual and Potential Aggression). The aspiration is to adopt recovery model approaches (Active Support and Positive Behavioural Support) for proactive prevention and improved quality of life outcomes. The successful candidate will have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to conduct research.

Additional Information
