About the Role
As a Support Worker you will provide 24-hour, person-centred care and support to individuals aged 55 and over who live in purpose-built accommodation. You will help them maintain independence, wellbeing and a high quality of life through personal care, medication and health support, meal preparation, leisure activities, domestic help, community engagement and assistance with moving and handling. Shifts run 7 am to 7 pm, 7 am to 3 pm, 4 pm to 11 pm and a waking night shift 7 pm to 7 am, with a dedicated team covering day and night.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour care and housing-related support to clients
- Assist with personal care, including medication and health monitoring
- Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met
- Organise and participate in leisure and recreational activities
- Offer domestic support and household assistance
- Engage with community and maintain relationships with family and friends
- Manage moving and handling safety and efficiency
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- Patience, empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
- Strong work ethic, reliability and honesty
- Determination, problem-solving ability and resilience
- Experience or volunteering in a support worker or care assistant role is desirable but not required; a passion for working with older adults and people with dementia or other conditions is essential
