Community Integrated Care is seeking a skilled Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) Specialist Practitioner in the South Scotland area (Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Lothians, Dumfries and Galloway, and the Scottish Borders). With a flexible location, the PBS Specialist Practitioner will work with and support the Strategic PBS Lead in coordinating a whole-organisational approach to enable effectiveness and to quantify impact in terms of reduced behaviours, improved quality of life, and developing and implementing a Positive Behaviour Culture. This role is full time (37.5 hours per week). Monday – Friday (4 day working week can be discussed). You must be a driver with access to your own car as the role covers the South of Scotland, with occasions travel elsewhere in Scotland.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Strategic PBS Lead in coordinating a whole-organisational PBS approach and strategy.
  • Quantify impact in terms of reduced behaviours and improved quality of life.
  • Develop and implement a Positive Behaviour Culture.
  • Deliver and support training, workshops and/or teaching adult learners as part of PBS delivery.
  • Lead or contribute to de-briefs with individuals or teams; work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Support the organisation’s use of least restrictive practices and MAPA model where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal and external agencies; ensure compliance with care standards and social care legislation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Level 5 PBS Qualification is essential; willingness to work to level 6/7 or ABA qualification with minimum one year PBS experience.
  • Extensive experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism who display behaviours of concern.
  • Experience carrying out Behaviour assessments within a Positive Behaviour Support Framework.
  • Experience reducing the use of restrictive practices, including restrictive interventions.
  • Experience delivering training, workshops and/or teaching adult learners.
  • Experience leading individual and/or team de-briefs.
  • Knowledge of care standards and social care legislation; effective writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills including Word and Excel; experience conducting research; knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint is preferable but not essential.
