Provides clinical and technical support for school-based health center (SBHC) medical providers, behavioral health, and dental providers as needed. Ensures supplies and equipment are stocked, monitors equipment, performs clinical testing per OSHA and CLIA standards, and enrolls patients for services.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, parents, and staff.
- Identify uninsured/underinsured patients and refer to Access to Care.
- Escort patients, obtain clinical data, and document in electronic records.
- Perform waived laboratory tests and prepare clinical settings.
- Manage clinical supplies and maintain logs.
- Ensure timely billing and effective communication within the team.
- Maintain universal precautions and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Serve as Safety Officer and lead special projects.
- Meet regularly with management to discuss operational issues.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant course.
- Board Certification/Registration required.
- Knowledge of EKG, phlebotomy, scheduling, and medical testing procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Current CPR for Healthcare Providers or equivalent certification.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Two+ years as a Medical Assistant.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity, ability to stand, walk, lift, and potential exposure to biohazards.
