Pay & Benefits: The pay range for this role is generally $41,600 - $46,600 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – people with low or no income, low‑income people with chronic illnesses, people with criminal justice involvement, people who use drugs, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.

Position Summary: CHASI’s Next Step Resource and Recovery Center provides opportunities for people in all stages and forms of recovery to deliver and attend individual and group support activities, initiate, and conduct outreach, and events celebrating recovery and reducing stigma associated with substance use. The Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and hosts several services including Recovery Center peer‑driven individual and group recovery services, counseling and case management, overdose prevention services, harm reduction, and recovery‑oriented community outreach, education, and the Training Institute at CHASI. The Training Institute is designed to promote professional growth and development for people in recovery from substance use and support the institutions that hire them.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as training lead for the Training Institute at CHASI’s roster of Administrative/Office Support and Custodial/Maintenance Worker tracks for people with histories of substance use disorder seeking to reenter the workforce.
  • Support the continuing development of the curriculum and materials for these tracks, including researching existing curricula that can be adapted or licensed and are consistent with best practices in their respective fields.
  • Support curriculum development and evaluation of training modules for participants in these tracks, related to office administration and custodial maintenance work.
  • Schedule and coordinate training offerings from CHASI, as well as those that may be offered by partner organizations.
  • Register students through AWARDS, Protraxx, and other databases, working with students through the application process.
  • Deliver hands‑on and classroom‑based instruction to diverse learners, ensuring they acquire the skills required to succeed in the field.
  • Maintain all files and complete data entry and routine reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Attend training as needed to ensure competency in service delivery, both in content and skills to ensure the success of the Training Institute at CHASI.
  • Attend continuing education programs/seminars designed to enhance professional competence.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community providers and groups serving persons with substance use disorders.
  • Work closely with program managers, community partners, and employers to identify job placement opportunities and ensure the curriculum meets workforce demands.
  • Organize peer‑led support services including individual and group support and education, events, and outreach services.
  • Work with each staff person to encourage and increase participation and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with CHASI departments and programs to encourage collaboration and utilization of the Resource Center services and Institute training.
  • Design and facilitate learning alumni collaborative sessions for Training Institute participants.
  • Align all activities with CHASI’s mission, core values, and culture.
  • Provide office coverage as needed and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Education, or related field, preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in vocational training or adult education.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or commitment to working effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity to ethnic, cultural, and sexual minorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver training and support.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong organizational skills necessary.
  • Computer literacy: knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Office suite, and ability to utilize data reporting systems and internet navigation.
