Pay & Benefits: The pay range for this role is generally $37.00 - $42.00 per hour, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role also includes access to sick time benefits and 403b retirement plan options.
CHASI drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – people with low or no income, low-income people with chronic illnesses, people with criminal justice involvement, people who use drugs, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Grants & Development Associate position is part of CHASI’s strategy team, inclusive of development, communications, data, and quality. This role will directly assist in reaching our strategic goals for stabilization and growth by identifying, organizing, and writing public and private grant opportunities aligned with CHASI’s funding and priorities. This position will also have the opportunity to assist with additional development initiatives, as time permits.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become familiar with CHASI’s strategic goals, programmatic areas and priorities, and operational needs
- Research, identify, and assess mission-aligned public and private funding resources, in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer, to fill gaps, enhance existing funding streams, and create new mission-aligned projects
- Lead grant writing processes, including creating workflows and timelines, collaborating with department leads on narrative development and serving as the primary writer, and collaborating with finance and administration on budget development
- Work with Administration to gather all required administrative documents for proposal submission and confirm all proposal specifications are met
- Attend pre-proposal conferences and submit questions to funders, as applicable
- Participate in proposal planning meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as required
- Submit proposal documents to funders
- Utilizing data and documentation of success stories, develop content to demonstrate CHASI’s successes that can be utilized for promotional materials, social media, or proposals
- Collaborate with the Communications & Development team on select projects.
- Perform all functions in alignment with CHASI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of experience sourcing and writing funding proposals required
- Advanced writing, reading comprehension, listening, copy editing skills, and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to write persuasive and gutsy proposals for both government and foundation funding
- Familiarity with the types of services CHASI provides preferred (e.g. harm reduction, HIV prevention, care coordination, justice involved populations, food access, etc.); ability to gain an understanding of the organization’s needs and goals required
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to receive and incorporate feedback
- Strong project management, time management, and problem solving skills
