Β£11,761.06 per annum) Fixed term contract for 12 months Who are Preston Vocational Centre (PVC)? PVC was established in 2009, becoming part of the Community Gateway Association (CGA) Group as its charitable subsidiary in 2013. Since 2009, we've welcomed over 7000 learners through our doors, helping them re-engage with education and reach their potential. Learners gain a variety of practical construction skills during their time with PVC, as well as soft skills to support them with future employment. What would I be doing in this role? The Student Support Mentor provides intensive small group or 1:1 pastoral support that is tailored to learners' needs, to engage young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. The role works collaboratively with the wider Centre team to meet the personal, social and curriculum-related needs of learners, including those with additional needs and learners for whom English is not their first language.

PVC is predominantly a practical learning centre, as such it may be expected for you to assist learners in session. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and supporting safeguarding, health and safety, and other compliance requirements. This role is offered on a fixed term basis, subject to funding. What we are looking for: You'll have experience of working in a similar role and of working with young people You'll have the ability to inspire, coach and engage learners to encourage them to reach their potential. You'll have the ability to work with our partners, schools and other stakeholders to get the best outcomes for our learners. You'll have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in teaching or youth work, or equivalent
