Apprentice Plumber / Gas Engineer

37 hours per week over 5 days, based in Preston with time given to attend training

National Minimum Wage £7.55 – £12.21 depending on your age

What will you be doing in this role?

This is a fixed term contract for up to four years and will lead to a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing and Domestic Heating accredited by City and Guilds and BPEC. We are working with JTL to deliver this apprenticeship.

During the first phase of your apprenticeship, you'll work with the plumbing team gaining valuable insight and hands on experience on how plumbing is designed, installed and repaired in a domestic home. Alongside this, you will be required to attend theory and practical sessions at our chosen training provider, JTL in Preston. You will then progress to the gas phase of your apprenticeship as your skills and knowledge develop.

You'll build your NVQ portfolio to demonstrate that you have gained the required knowledge and skills and complete examinations. You will need to pass each year of your training to progress.

What we are looking for in you

  • You'll have Maths & English GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
  • You'll be hardworking and self-motivated.
  • You'll be a team player who shares our values and puts customers and communities at the heart of all they do.
  • You'll have a good understanding of health and safety relevant to this role.
  • You'll have a genuine desire to pursue a career in plumbing & gas – and be able to demonstrate this to us!
  • As you progress, you will need to have a full manual driving licence, so if you don't have one already you will need to work towards this in future.

Visit the JTL Website for more information about the apprenticeship. Please note that the successful candidate will need to register with JTL and successfully complete their initial screening in order to take up this role.
