Community Foster Care is a Therapeutic Independent Foster Agency and a charity rooted in principles of social justice and community empowerment. We are seeking a Family Support Worker to join our team.
Role Overview
As a Family Support Worker, you will work directly with foster families, collaborating with foster parents and the professional team. Your interventions will be purposeful, outcomes-focused, and informed by needs assessments. You should understand, communicate, and implement aspects of our therapeutic approach, ensuring high standards within the community. Resilience, confidence, and creativity are essential to overcome challenges within the care system and support foster families and children facing various difficulties.
Work Arrangements
While CFC offers flexible working arrangements, availability to work directly with children outside of school hours is essential. Work is primarily Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required.

Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with foster families and children to provide purposeful, needs-based interventions
- Provide emergency support as needed
- Plan and deliver group interventions and activities, including residential experiences
- Build and maintain relationships with children upon their joining and during their stay with foster families
- Facilitate participation of children and young people in decision-making processes
- Support children in expressing their views in relevant forums
- Contribute to ongoing assessments and specific evaluations
- Undertake risk assessments to ensure positive engagement
- Conduct unannounced visits to foster families
- Maintain case files and records according to policy
- Deliver training to foster families, such as Safer Care training
- Participate in meetings like strategy sessions, supervision, reviews, and training
