Contract Type: Permanent – we are open to full-time and part-time applications. Are you a driven and motivated Endoscopist looking to join a fantastic team at CHEC? We value our people and are committed to advancing community health through innovative services. Our services include gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoidal banding. We design locally agreed integrated pathways supporting the NHS to provide patient-centred endoscopy services via a one-stop approach. Our centres are purpose-built, centrally located, and easily accessible by public transport. About the Role As an Endoscopist at CHEC, you will deliver high-quality endoscopy services across our sites, contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and support service development in a growing field. Our Endoscopists operate independently as JAG-accredited Advanced Practitioners, handling: Upper GI: OGD including biopsy and Barrett’s surveillance Lower GI: colonoscopy including biopsy, tattooing, polyp removal ( Flexible sigmoidoscopy as indicated Banding of haemorrhoids Providing telephone advice to referring clinicians Participating in governance meetings Triage of referrals Note: Equipment used includes Fuji 700 series and Pentax i10/i20. Candidate Requirements We seek someone who: Is competent in assessing and treating a range of chronic and acute conditions Can independently manage endoscopy lists, including emergencies, within a team setting Demonstrates advanced clinical judgment and decision-making Can diagnose and report benign and malignant GI conditions, discussing findings with patients Plans patient management and referrals appropriately Provides supervision and training to nursing and professional staff Ensures safe service delivery and team cohesion Additional responsibilities may include histology reporting, pre-assessment, training, liaising with GPs and MDTs, depending on training and competency. Qualifications and Skills To succeed, you will need: Valid GMC, NMC, or HCPC registration Experience working autonomously as an Endoscopist Competence in prescribing and administering sedatives and opioids Experience meeting JAG standards as a clinical nurse endoscopist Ability to provide NED data Understanding of JAG standards in endoscopy Degree-level education or equivalent experience A passion for patient safety and high-quality care Independent Prescriber qualification If interested, contact Jasmine.r@chec.uk for an initial conversation.
