About the Role
The key responsibilities of the Theatre Practitioner will be to focus on patient centric care, participating in the entire pathways for all patients from pre-admission, surgery, and post-operative management. You will be an experienced Theatre Practitioner undertaking preoperative assessment, diagnostics testing, and theatre scrub under AfPP good practice guidance.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, friends, and families
- Prepare clinical areas for clinical activities
- Assist surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care
- Admission and discharge of patients
- Participate in departmental audits
- Be pro-active and keen to learn and have a passion to deliver quality care
- Have effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Thrive in a team environment
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Previous theatre experience is required.
- Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODP’s with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
- Evidence of relevant professional development, clinically, preferably evidenced by certification
- RN with valid NMC Registration / ODP with valid HCPC Registration
- Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice.
- Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Passion for delivering first-rate patient safety and care
