We have an exciting opportunity for a Sessional Optometrist with paediatric experience to join us as we continue to expand throughout the UK.
About the Role
This role would suit an Optometrist who has at least 12 months post-registration experience and current GOC registration, with proven paediatric clinical experience. You will have a passion for providing outstanding care to children of all ages and confidence in conducting thorough paediatric eye examinations.
Our sessional paediatric optometrists provide independent, child-focused eye care, including vision assessments, screening, and management of common childhood eye conditions, supporting early intervention and long-term eye health.
If successful, we will support your continued professional development with opportunities to further develop your paediatric expertise and broaden your clinical skill set.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Conduct comprehensive paediatric eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, binocular vision assessment, and management of common childhood eye conditions.
- Assess, counsel, and reassure children and their families throughout the patient journey.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with both children and their parents or guardians.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.
- Support post-treatment follow-up with appropriate referrals where needed.
- Provide independent clinical decision-making in line with best practice guidelines.
Who we are looking for:
- A GOC registered Optometrist with at least 12 months post-registration experience.
- Demonstrated paediatric optometry experience, with confidence in working with children of various ages.
- Motivated to develop, with a keen interest in paediatric and clinical optometry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with children and their families.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Understanding of clinical governance and a commitment to providing the highest quality of care.
