Location: Blackpool, with travel to Preston and Warrington

Contract Type: Permanent

This role is eligible for applications from individuals who require a Skilled Worker visa.

This is a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week, worked over 4 days within a 7-day period including some weekends. Standard shifts are from 07:30 to 17:30 with some flexibility required based on patient need.

As part of your training, it is advantageous to travel to other CHEC hospitals to enhance your training and development through exposure to different teams and practices. This will be done within the normal working day.

About the Role:

  • Our Theatre Practitioners play a key role in delivering patient-centred care across the entire ophthalmic pathway - from pre-admission and diagnostics to surgical support and post-operative recovery.
  • At CHEC, Theatre Practitioners scrub and assist in a high-volume theatre environment, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth and efficient theatre lists.
  • We are looking for dedicated practitioners who are committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical care, safety, and service throughout the patient journey.

Following your training as a theatre practitioner you will:

  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, families, and friends.
  • Assist surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care.
  • Provide scrub support within the theatre, ensuring AfPP good practice guidelines are followed.
  • Prepare clinical areas for daily activities.
  • Manage the admission and discharge of patients on theatre days.
  • Participate in departmental audits.
  • Be proactive, eager to learn, and passionate about delivering high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • To be a registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
  • Ideally previous experience in a clinical or theatre setting, specifically with high-volume procedures.
  • A desire to develop and expand your clinical skills through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Ideally prior exposure to patient discharge processes, ensuring effective care transition.
  • A passion for delivering excellent patient care and contributing to a positive working environment.
  • A proactive, flexible approach to teamwork and an eagerness to support service improvement initiatives.
  • The ability to remain calm, focused, and responsive in a fast-paced, patient-centred environment.
  • Experience in infection prevention and control protocols.
  • Knowledge of relevant clinical governance frameworks and CQC standards.
