Part-time, up to 21.50 hours per week. This position will remain open until filled, or at the discretion of Great Bay Community College. In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.
SCOPE OF WORK: Performs general safety and security functions associated with patrolling, inspecting, and securing buildings and grounds, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to alarms and incidents, assisting the community and public, maintaining records, and assists with training and guiding new officers. This position reports to the College Supervisor for Safety & Security at Great Bay Community College.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Welcome and direct visitors who seek assistance in our reception area;
- Utilize CCTV security systems and card access systems;
- Positive interaction with faculty, staff, students and visitors;
- Interact and cooperate with Police, Fire and EMS agencies;
- Patrol and monitor college property providing for the safety and welfare of students, faculty and staff;
- Report violations of State Law on college property to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency;
- Enforce college rules and regulations pertaining to students, faculty, staff and visitors;
- Document criminal activity that occurs on college property;
- Lawfully detain violators for referral to Law Enforcement agencies;
- Prepare written reports such as daily logs and incident reports relating to security and safety matters and compliance with the Clery Act;
- Implement the campus Emergency Operations Plan in cases of emergency; activate campus emergency notification systems;
- Respond to and investigate burglar and fire alarm activations on GBCC property;
- Develops and delivers training to students and staff regarding safety and security standards, policies, procedures, protocols;
- Assist our Facilities Department with setting up for special events;
- Provide support for campus related functions;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency.
Experience: Three years' experience in law enforcement work as a security guard/officer, police officer, corrections officer, or military police officer. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of experience.
License/Certification: Valid drivers' license required. Current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification. Special Requirement: Must be age 21.

- Ability to perform investigations, question witnesses and prepare written reports.
- Ability to use judgment when using force to control individuals or groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with employees, residents, other law enforcement agencies and the general public.
- Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
