The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.
We are looking for experienced female support workers to assist with a client (21 yrs) living in Frome, with personal care, food and drink preparation, moving and handling including use of a full hoist, and assistance to help her access the community and leisure activities. The client is a young lady with Cerebral Palsy and Autism who uses an AAC device for communication. She enjoys swimming, music events, time at her holiday home in Bournemouth, and going out for meals and various events. The shifts can be single handed or double handed. A team of treating professionals supports her care, providing advice and recommendations to maintain physical ability and functional independence where possible.
Working Hours
This is a bank position with current shifts as follows:
- Friday 1:30pm – 9:00am (collect from college in Stroud and overnight sleep)
- Saturday 9:00am – 9:00am (24-hour sleep-in shift)
- Saturday 9:00am – 6:00pm
- Sunday 6:00pm – 1:30pm (sleep shift and drive to college in Stroud)
Availability for additional shifts during college holidays when the client is home full time. Following July 2026, when the client returns home from college, there will be contracted hours available and a full-time team is anticipated. Shifts from return home are typically: 9:00am–9:00am (sleep and 24 hours) and 9:00am–6:00pm (double up shifts). There is some flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and support for daily living
- Assist with food and drink preparation
- Manage moving and handling, including use of a full hoist
- Support access to the community and leisure activities
- Work with a multidisciplinary team and follow care guidance
Qualifications and Requirements
- Clear DBS Check
- A full driving licence
- Experience of moving & handling; ability to use a full hoist system, potentially single-handed
- Good communication skills; empathetic and compassionate personality
- AAC device experience or willingness to receive training
- Experience with an AAC device (communication device)
- NVQ 2 or 3 or an equivalent in care
- Experience driving a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (age 25+ for insurance) with confidence to drive 1 hour+
