About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Practitioner to join our Children in Care Team within Children's Social Care. This role will involve supporting children and young people who are subject to Care Orders, Interim Care Orders, or accommodated under Section 20 of the Children Act 1989. You will manage complex cases, provide high-quality social work interventions, and ensure children in care receive the support, stability, and permanence they need to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Hold a caseload of children in care, undertaking statutory visits, care planning, reviews, and permanence planning in line with statutory requirements.
Lead on complex cases, ensuring children's voices remain central to all planning and decision-making, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes and long-term stability.
Develop, implement, and review robust care plans, working towards permanency through reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship, or adoption where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential providers, Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs), health, education, and other partner agencies to meet the needs of children and young people in care.
Prepare high-quality court reports, permanence reports, and other statutory documentation where required.
Mentor, guide, and support less-experienced practitioners, promoting reflective practice and contributing to the ongoing development of the team.
Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance, departmental policies, GDPR, and Social Work England professional standards.
Contribute to service development, quality assurance activities, and team meetings, supporting continuous improvement in practice and outcomes for children in care.
