Qualified Social Worker needed for our Child Protection & Court Work in Plymouth.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Children’s Social Worker to join a statutory safeguarding team in Plymouth. This is a critical role focused on protecting children and young people who are at risk of, or have suffered, significant harm in line with the Children Act 1989. You will manage complex casework involving Child Protection (CP), Section 47 enquiries, Public Law Outline (PLO) processes, and Court proceedings, ensuring children’s safety and welfare remain central to all decision‑making. This role requires strong expertise in trauma‑informed practice and the ability to work effectively in high‑pressure, fast‑paced statutory environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake complex Child Protection casework, including S47 investigations and court proceedings
  • Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and evidence for court and legal planning meetings
  • Manage risk and ensure timely safeguarding interventions for children and families
  • Build purposeful, relationship‑based practice with children, young people, and families
  • Ensure the child’s voice is central to all assessments, plans, and interventions
  • Deliver evidence‑based, trauma‑informed interventions to support positive change
  • Work within statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures for Children’s Social Care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and analytical case recording in line with data protection standards
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and continuous professional development
  • Provide court attendance and give evidence on behalf of the Local Authority when required
