Caseload Expectations: Typically, 20–24 cases, including a mix of complex Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and assessments.
Team Structure: Six teams total — three covering Torquay, and three covering Paignton and Brixham. Each team includes a Team Manager, an Advanced Social Worker, and four to five Social Workers.
Remote Working: Office attendance is expected up to three times per week. During duty weeks, full-time office presence is required. Remote working is permitted but staff must remain available to respond to crisis situations and Section 47 enquiries.
Supervision: Frequency varies by team; for example, in my team, supervision is held fortnightly.
Progression Opportunities: Pathways exist for career development and permanent roles.
Travel Requirements: Candidates must be able to travel across Torbay and occasionally out of county to visit children placed outside the area.
Duty Rota: Teams cover duty one full week every three weeks.
Contract Length: Long-term placement.
Quality Assurance: We have recently received GOOD in our Ofsted inspection.
We have places to rent if required.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Strong experience within Children's Safeguarding Services.
- Excellent knowledge of Child Protection, Child in Need, Public Law Outline (PLO) processes, court work, and statutory thresholds.
- Experience completing high-quality assessments and managing complex risk.
- Proficient in using children's social care recording systems and maintaining accurate case records.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment and build positive relationships with children and families.
