About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Fostering, Supervision & Support Service in North Devon. The service is responsible for providing support, advice, and supervision to foster carers to ensure safe, stable, and thriving placements for children and young people. All work is undertaken in line with the National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing supervision and support to foster carers
- Undertaking unannounced visits and annual foster carer reviews
- Participating in quality assurance activities
- Supporting the delivery of training for prospective and existing foster carers
- Promoting high standards of professional social work practice
- Applying sound knowledge of fostering regulations and legal options for children cared for within family and network arrangements
About You:
The successful candidate will have:
- A recognized Social Work qualification
- Current registration with Social Work England
- Successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- Robust post-qualifying experience within Children and Families services
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong knowledge of fostering legislation and regulations
- Experience within Fostering services and/or transferable experience from a related social work setting
- Excellent time management, planning, and recording skills
- Flexibility and willingness to work across the wider South Fostering area
