Experienced Social Worker needed for our Exploitation and Missing Team in Peterborough, paying £39 per hour!

Location: Peterborough

Working Pattern: (Hybrid – minimum 2 days office‑based)

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Exploitation and Missing Team in Peterborough, part of the Young People’s Safeguarding Service. This is a vital role focused on protecting vulnerable children and young people at risk of exploitation, trafficking, and going missing. You will work directly with young people, families, and partner agencies to identify risks, develop safeguarding strategies, and achieve the best possible outcomes through strong, relationship‑based and trauma‑informed practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting and effective relationships with vulnerable children and young people
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to understand experiences of exploitation
  • Respond to children reported missing from home or care
  • Conduct and oversee Return Home Interviews to inform safeguarding plans
  • Identify push and pull factors contributing to exploitation and missing episodes
  • Contribute to and implement robust safeguarding and risk management plans
  • Deliver training to professionals across Peterborough
  • Attend Strategy Meetings, weekly Risk Outside the Home panels, and MACE (Multi‑Agency Child Exploitation) meetings
  • Work collaboratively with police, education, health, youth justice, and third sector partners
  • Share intelligence appropriately to safeguard children and young people
  • Provide oversight and support to missing workers
  • Maintain accurate records and engage in continuous professional development
