Advanced Social Worker needed for our Children's Services / Response Team in South Glos, paying £41ph!

Location: South Glos

Pay Rate: £41 per hour

Contract Type: Locum / Temporary

Working Pattern: Full-time

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Advanced Social Worker to join the Front Door (Response Team) within Children’s Social Care and Preventative Services at South Gloucestershire. This is a hybrid role requiring attendance within the local authority area to undertake family visits and office-based work, alongside home working. Please note that accommodation costs and travel expenses to and from your home and work base are not covered.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Assess and manage risk where there is possible or actual significant harm to children
  • Ensure children are safeguarded and protected from abuse
  • Undertake statutory assessments where cases meet the threshold for social care intervention
  • Lead and contribute to child protection investigations
  • Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners to ensure effective safeguarding responses

This is a fast‑paced and rewarding role requiring confident decision‑making and strong professional judgement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration
  • Have successfully completed your ASYE (if qualified since 2012) and demonstrate significant experience in assessing and managing risk for vulnerable children
  • Have a strong understanding of asset and strengths‑based approaches to social work
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of strategies that improve outcomes for children, young people and families
  • Be a confident problem‑solver, capable of making sound decisions in complex situations
  • Show a genuine passion for collaborative, child‑focused practice
