We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Safeguarding Advanced Practitioner to join our Quality and Safeguarding Team within our residential services in the Central region. This role mirrors our established safeguarding model in the Midlands and South, and plays a vital part in ensuring our children’s homes deliver safe, high‑quality care. This is a hybrid role, mainly home based with some travel.

The Role

  • Collaborate with operational teams to uphold safeguarding standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentoring, support, and challenge where safeguarding practice requires development.
  • Monitor and review safeguarding documentation to ensure it reflects safe, high-quality care.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding through robust quality assurance and compliance processes.
  • Ensure recording and reporting reflects sound social work theory, analysis, and reflective practice.
  • Contribute to the development of management information systems to enhance safeguarding oversight.
  • Advise on safeguarding strategy and policy development across the organisation.
  • Deliver coaching and workshops on safeguarding in residential care settings.
  • Identify and communicate safeguarding concerns effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Registered Social Worker with experience in child protection and safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of children’s homes regulations and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports.
  • Analytical thinking and reflective practice to support robust safeguarding assessments.
  • Ability to influence and support colleagues across operational teams.
  • Confident in mentoring and coaching, with a collaborative and supportive approach.
  • Organisational and time management skills to manage travel, visits, and documentation effectively.
  • IT literate, with experience using digital systems for recording and reporting.
  • Flexible and resilient, with a commitment to continuous improvement and child-centred practice.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car, with willingness to travel across the Central region.
