About the Role :
As a Consultant Social Worker, you will provide professional leadership, operational oversight, and expert practice within the Kinship Team. You will support practitioners through reflective supervision, drive high-quality assessments, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, support, and supervise kinship carers.
- Assist with the leadership and day-to-day management of the Kinship Care Team, driving performance and ensuring high-quality, timely assessments.
- Provide operational oversight and promote best practice through robust quality assurance processes.
- Deliver reflective supervision that provides both high support and high challenge to practitioners.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovative approaches to enhance outcomes for children and carers.
- Work collaboratively with the wider management team to achieve service objectives.
- Promote effective multi-agency working and contribute to the long-term strategic development of kinship care services.
- Prepare and present high-quality reports for a range of forums, including court proceedings.
- Manage safeguarding concerns and risk within the team, deputising for the Practice Lead when required.
Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Extensive experience within children's social work, including Child Protection and Children in Care.
- Strong experience of practising children's social work within statutory and legislative frameworks.
- Proven experience supervising and managing practitioners, with a focus on performance, quality, and professional development.
- In-depth knowledge of fostering standards, child development, trauma-informed practice, and systemic approaches.
- Experience undertaking complex assessments and developing effective risk management and risk reduction plans.
- Financial management experience and the ability to deliver training, workshops, and support groups.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with a proactive, child-centred approach.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
