This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Social Work Practitioner specialising in the Children in Care Team within Children's Social Care located in the vibrant town of Gateshead. What you will do:
- Hold a reduced caseload of complex Children in Care cases, including children subject to care proceedings, placement instability, or complex safeguarding concerns.
- Lead permanence planning activity, including reunification, long-term fostering, Special Guardianship Orders, and adoption planning, ensuring timely progression and reduced drift.
- Undertake statutory visits, assessments, and reviews in line with the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations 2010, and local authority procedures.
- Provide mentoring, consultation, and practice support to Social Workers and ASYE staff, promoting reflective and relationship‑based practice.
- Prepare and quality‑assure high‑standard reports for statutory reviews, legal planning meetings, fostering panels, and court proceedings.
Person Specification:
- Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent)
- Significant post‑qualifying experience within statutory children’s social care
- Practice Educator or advanced practice qualification (desirable)
Registration & Compliance:
- Registered with Social Work England
- Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Planning Regulations 2010, and statutory guidance relating to looked‑after children
- Understanding of permanence planning, fostering regulations, and corporate parenting responsibilities
