About The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join the Fostering Supervision and Support Team within the Barnsley Yorkshire Collaboration. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed social work professional who is passionate about supporting foster carers to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people. Working within a supportive fostering service, you will play a key role in supervising and developing foster carers, ensuring high standards of care and positive outcomes for children in placement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and ongoing support to foster carers
  • Undertake foster carer assessments, reviews, and annual visits
  • Support carers in managing placements and responding to children’s needs
  • Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, partner agencies, and families
  • Contribute to placement stability and permanency planning
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings and reports
  • Participate in training, support groups, and fostering panels where required

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker status and current registration
  • Previous experience within a Fostering Team
  • Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, standards, and safeguarding practice
  • Experience supervising and supporting foster carers
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
  • A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people
