Qualified Social Worker needed for our Child Protection Team in Dorset, paying between £38 - £42 ph!

Location: Blandford, Dorset

Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-time)

Essential: Must have access to a vehicle (significant travel required)

Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK

About the Role

As a Lead Child Protection Practitioner, you will work within a multi-agency safeguarding team supporting children and families subject to complex Child in Need (CiN), Child Protection (CP), pre-proceedings, and court processes. You will play a key role in delivering a new model of practice that emphasises collaboration, co-design with families, and strong multi-agency partnership working. You will also work closely with Quality Assurance Reviewing Officers (QAROs) in an independent capacity to ensure transparency, understanding, and meaningful engagement with families. You will have access to Safeguarding Together multi-agency teams and embedded multidisciplinary support within each locality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver statutory social work in line with the Children Act 1989 and associated legislation
  • Undertake high-quality assessments of children and families’ needs
  • Develop, implement, and review effective, timely care and protection plans
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people
  • Provide clear advice, guidance, and support to families to promote independence and resilience
  • Prepare court reports and attend legal proceedings, including giving evidence when required
  • Chair multi-agency meetings and contribute to planning and review processes
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recording on electronic systems
  • Work alongside Lead Family Help Practitioners to deliver coordinated support
  • Undertake direct work with children and families to progress plans
  • Participate in specialist assessments following appropriate training
