Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner needed for our Children's Services in Barnet, paying up to £37ph!

Location: Barnet

Pay Rate: Up to £37 per hour

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 1 to 2 days per week in the office

About the Role:

Barnet is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a long‑term Children's Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who has substantial experience managing Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Court work, and is looking to make a meaningful impact within a supportive local authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake duty and assessment work, responding to new referrals and urgent cases
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and risk evaluations
  • Make clear, defensible decisions in line with statutory frameworks
  • Manage a complex caseload within a busy duty environment
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure effective outcomes
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members where required

Requirements:

  • Manage a caseload of complex children's cases within a long‑term team.
  • Undertake assessments, interventions, and reviews in line with statutory requirements.
  • Work with children and families subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans.
  • Prepare high‑quality court reports, statements, and care plans.
  • Represent the Local Authority in court proceedings and legal meetings where required.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard and promote children's welfare.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records and documentation.
