We are seeking an experienced

Assistant Team Manager to join a busy Children's Safeguarding Service in a non-caseholding capacity.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner or existing manager who is passionate about developing social workers, driving high-quality practice, and supporting positive outcomes for children and families.

Working alongside the Team Manager, you will provide day-to-day operational support, practice leadership and oversight to a team managing Child Protection and Children in Need cases.

About the Role

As a Non-Caseholding Assistant Team Manager, you will

  • Support the Team Manager with the day-to-day leadership of a busy Child Protection team.
  • Provide practice oversight and guidance to Social Workers managing Children in Need and Child Protection cases.
  • Offer reflective supervision, coaching and mentoring to support practitioner development.
  • Assist with case allocation, workflow management and performance monitoring.
  • Quality assure assessments, plans and statutory documentation to ensure high standards of practice.
  • Promote effective risk management and robust decision-making across the team.
  • Champion relationship-based practice and ensure children remain at the centre of all interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
  • Contribute to service improvement and embed best practice across the team.

About You

  • We're looking for an experienced Children's Social Work professional who:
  • Is a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Has significant frontline experience within Children's Safeguarding, Child Protection and Children in Need.
  • Has previous supervisory, senior practitioner or management experience.
  • Is confident providing practice leadership, support and constructive challenge.
  • Has excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and performance expectations.
  • Is passionate about developing others and promoting high-quality social work practice.
