About Us
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable low‑carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke. We are more than just an alliance; we bring together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide.
The Role
To manage and lead a team of HSW professionals, providing support and guidance to the operational teams throughout the pre‑construction, construction and post‑construction phases. The role will ensure all legal obligations are met, enable the safe delivery of work and provide tactical support to the HSW Director, including data feedback from the work stream. This position is assigned to the Enabling and Earthworks stream essential in helping us achieve the JO project milestone.
Knowledge & Skills
- Essential
- Must have experience in leading and managing teams.
- Must have detailed technical knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
- Experience of working on major infrastructure projects.
- Must have prior experience of providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams at a senior level.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture by providing constructive feedback on performance, strengths and development needs.
- Able to engage at all levels within the CWA operational team structure.
- High competence in accident and incident investigation.
- Able to use data and information for the preparation of HSW reports.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Manager competence.
